What, How, Normal, Conclusion,
#What is the APGAR score?
The Apgar score is a system which indicates the overall health status of newborns.
It ranges from 0 to 10.
0 indicates the lowest Apgar score which indicates newborns need high attention whereas 10 indicates the highest score i.e newborn is in healthy condition.
Apgar has five categories based on which newborns score points.
Created In 1952
By Dr Virginia Apgar
Her last name is used as a mnemonic for each of the five categories a person will score.
#Normal Score
7 to 10 scores after 10 minutes are considered normal.
4 to 6 score indicates moderately abnormal.
A 0 to 3 score is alarming.
#How To give a score

Recorded at one and five minutes.
Because if babe scores a low point at 1 minute then medical staff step in to improve the condition
At a five-minute baby, the condition has improved already if not reassess the score after 10 minutes.
#Condition For having a low APGAR score
Premature baby
Baby born by cesarean section delivery
Those having complicated delivery
Helps to understand how a baby is doing after birth.
It is a subjective based score and differs for each one.
A score doesn't determine the long-term condition of the baby.
